Serving some of the best pub food in York, all our menus focus on hearty, popular, affordable dishes so that our guests can lunch and dine regularly with us.  We work constantly with local farmers and the best fresh fish suppliers in the north to offer the best quality produce we can find. Our wine compilation is more than a list.  Every wine has been individually tasted by a member of the family and has our personal recommendation.  Creating a list of several hundred wines or more is relatively simple.  A wine list of more modest proportions such as this is infinitely more difficult.  With the vast number of wines produced today, the problem becomes not what to put on, rather what to leave off, especially if one is concerned with offering ‘still to be discovered’ wines, alongside ‘Old World’ favourites.

All our listed wines are available, subject to quantity, on a ‘take-out’ basis, at very competitive prices. If you particularly like a wine and would wish to enjoy a bottle or more at home, please ask a member of staff to view the price list for consumption off the premise.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT .... is CURRY NIGHT!  Come and sample our homemade curries. In addition to our usual dinner menu there's a different one each week for just £9.50!

THURSDAY NIGHT ... is steak night - two rump steaks with all the trimmings and a bottle of house wines for just £28.00! Plus our usual dinner menu

FRIDAY NIGHT IS FISHY FRIDAY!  2 large hand battered cod, home made chips and mushy or garden peas for just £20..eat in or take away
